Triethyl citrate is an ester of citric acid. It is a colorless, odorless liquid used as a food additive, emulsifier, and solvent (E number E1505) to stabilize foams, especially as whipping aid for egg white. It is also used in pharmaceutical coatings and plastics.This substance is used in adhesives and sealants, coating products, polymers, inks and toners, perfumes and fragrances, cosmetics and personal care products, laboratory chemicals and lubricants and greases.

Ø  Diethyl succinate(DES) is a diethyl ester with succinate molecules. It has two ester groups and is majorly used in fragrances. It is produced by the esterification of succinic acid with ethanol.

Ø  DES and 1-octanol can be blended with B5 palm oil biodiesel to improve the oxygen content and achieve a greener emission of combustion gases.

Ø  It may also be used as a novel and highly efficient solvent to capture carbon dioxide(CO₂) which can be potentially used as a technique to reduce carbon emission.
